Davidson Dyna Street Bob 2012 Review ~ Motorcycle News

The 2016 Harley Davidson Fat Bob belongs to the Dyna series of premium cruisers from Harley. You can order your Fat Bob in 4 colors, including a matte finish black 2016 Harley-Davidson Dyna Fat Bob that really gives the bike a high-performance, stealth look. However, it's at the rear where the H-D designers have really gone to town on the Fat Bob. A note, almost all stock Harley shocks suck but Harleys have excellent aftermarket options. HARLEY-DAVIDSON DYNA FXDF FAT BOB, 1584cc , Manual 6 speed, 2013, 3,039 miles, Silver (Black/Silver 8 Ball Custom), Alarm, Immobiliser, Full Service History.

Harley have finally listened to their customers and 300mm discs up front grabbed by 4-piston calipers provide good braking that is fine real world standards. Still, in either color for $16,099 or in the available matte (Denim”) or gloss (Vivid”) black for $15,699, the Fat Bob is an unmistakably striking motorcycle, and besides, American-made distinction comes at a premium.

Then when you give it the berries, an exhaust flap opens in the stacked exhaust system at 4000rpm and lets the V-twin escape the exhaust flow straitjacket that it's been placed in. That this extra kick arrives with a barely perceptible increase in engine noise volume shows just how determined Harley has become about reducing the noise of its bikes.

So long as I let the stretched-out footpegs dictate the riding pace and kept to speeds that allowed my feet to easily maintain contact with them, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment aboard the Dyna. For a production-level bob job the Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob has a lot going for it. However, the SB has some stiff 2016 Harley-Davidson Dyna Fat Bob competition in the Victory High-Ball we reviewed last summer. The motorcycles in the Dyna family trace their roots to the original Harley-Davidson factory customs.

The Dyna Fat Bob is one of the most minimal big twins you can get from the factory. When I take a step back and look at the Fat Bob there are so many things that this bike does for me, I'm not surprised at how quickly it has squeezed to the top of my list of favorite Harleys. The 2014 Harley-Davidson® Dyna® Fat Bob® FXDF model is a Dark Custom cruiser with a big motorcycle feel. Though not blacked-out to the extent the Storm is, the Bob has a subdued mix of black, dull-polished and chrome surfaces that set just the right tone.

And for the ignorant people out there stop calling it a harly wanna be. I haven't seen harley come out with anything like it. The blacked-out High Output Twin Cam 103 motor (new for 2016) means the 2016 Harley-Davidson Dyna Fat Bob doesn't just look like a strongman. The Fat Bob was on the cutting edge of style when it came out four years ago; it may even have been ahead of its time.

Now that the bigger 103-cubic-inch lump - currently in the Touring models, Softails and Dyna motorcycles, with the Dyna Street Bob and Dyna Super Glide Custom retaining the Twin Cam 96 - will become the new standard for large-displacement Harleys, the likeable qualities in the Twin Cam 96 may get lost to the new kid on the block. But twist the stick and get underway, and the Fat Bob growls its way to smoothness.
